Client Terms
Last updated 3 Oct 2026
These Client Terms apply to every Member who hires, commissions or contacts Providers on Collab — including client accounts, businesses, publishers, studios and creatives hiring other creatives ("Clients"). They form part of, and should be read with, the general Terms of Use.
1. Creatives are not our agents
- Creatives and other Providers on the Site are independent agents / independent contractors. They are not employees, workers, agents or representatives of Collab, and they cannot bind us to anything.
- We do not vet, endorse or guarantee any Provider, their identity, skills, availability, quality, originality or conduct. Ratings and reviews are written by other Members, not by us.
- Any Commission is a contract solely between you and the Provider.
2. Payments happen off-site
- The Site does not process, hold or guarantee payments and does not offer escrow or refunds.
- You pay the Provider directly using the payment method the Provider supplies. Check that it is legitimate before you pay and keep records of what you agreed and paid.
- Consider staged payments or deposits for larger work and agree refund terms up front.
3. Disputes must be taken up with the Provider
Any dispute — including about quality, delays, non-delivery, refunds, copyright or licensing — must be taken up directly with the Provider. Collab is not a party to your agreement, is not responsible for the Provider's acts or omissions, and will not pay compensation or refunds. You may report misconduct on the Site (such as suspected fraud), which may lead to us removing content or suspending an account, but we do not decide disputes between Members.
4. Rights in commissioned work
Unless you and the Provider agree otherwise in writing, the Provider may keep copyright in the work they create. Agree clearly what rights you need (for example commercial use, publication, merchandise, exclusivity, modification) before work starts.
5. Projects and conduct
- Project listings must describe real work you intend to commission, with an honest budget.
- Do not ask for unpaid "test" work beyond a reasonable small sample, and do not use Providers' portfolio images without a licence.
- Pay what you agreed, on time.
6. Reviews
After a Job is marked complete, both sides may leave a signed 1–10 star review. Reviews must be honest and based on your own experience.
7. Your client page
- A client account has a lighter public page: your name, photo, any company you add, the projects you choose to share, and the signed reviews you have given and received.
- Projects you mark private are not listed on the Site. They are visible only to you, the creatives you hire for them, and our moderators.
